Kids' Co-Op is excited to offer combined 1st & 2nd grade for the 2008-2009 school year!

Our unique learning environment looks like this:

• Child-centered – teaches to the “whole” child in all areas of development (social, emotional, physical and cognitive)
• Children take an active role in constructing their curriculum

• Values cross-age learning and student interaction – Mixed age classrooms stimulate children’s thinking and cognitive growth. Younger children learn from their older peers who are seen as role models or mentors for more advanced methods of learning. The older children also benefit by gaining additional mastery of their own learning in the process as they solidify what they know.
• Incorporates the national and state goals and standards for math, literacy, science and social studies through materials that are engaging, relevant and meaningful
• Daily opportunities to engage in whole class, small group, partner and independent activities
• Parent involvement – Learning is an on-going, life-long process which is enhanced when the child, teacher and family work together. Primary role in the classroom is an observer, facilitator and positive role model.
